Books

The books listed below reflect the results of the scientific work and the practical activities of the Erste deutsche Beratungs- und Informationsstelle für Linkshänder und umgeschulte Linkshänder (First German Consulting and Information Center for Left-handers and Converted Left-handers) and the expert advice given by the Center.

Professional translations of the principal works have been completed for printing for an English-language publishing house. However, the firm has discontinued its activities altogether, so that interested English-language readers have to be asked for some more patience.

The Auer Verlag, a publishing house of long standing with facilities in Donauwörth (north of Munich), Leipzig and Dortmund ranges among the leading educational publishers in Bavaria. They publish specialized pedagogical literature for educational state institutes. Their science division deserves great respect. The engagement in the problem of left-handedness on the part of the German press is owed to Auer Verlag. Many persons affected received advice and assistance through their publishing efforts.

The company was founded by and owes its name to the pedagog Ludwig Auer. The Cassianeum Foundation established by Ludwig Auer is active to this day. It holds an interest in the publishing house and also owns extensive real estate, including a former monastery with a church and annexes, which now accommodate a boarding school, the offices of the Cassianeum Foundation, and the publishing company, also the Ludwig Auer printing

In May 2000, when the firm had its 125th anniversary, Monika Hohlmeier, the Bavarian Minister of Culture and Education, was present at Donauwörth to make a speech.

The Cassianeum Foundation is granting a prize each year for a scientific paper about children in special situations.

In 1997 Klett Verlag, one of the largest German publishing houses, purchased an interest in Auer Verlag.
